Meet Your Instructor

Dr. Mary Alvarez

Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work—but successful AI adoption isn't just about technology. It's about preparing people.

I'm an educator, municipal Human Resources Director, and founder of the AI Readiness Academy. Every day, I work at the intersection of education, workforce development, organizational leadership, and public service. I also serve as an educator at Western Governors University, where I help adult learners achieve their educational goals.

I created the AI Readiness Academy because organizations are being asked to adopt AI faster than many employees have been prepared to use it. My mission is to make AI understandable, practical, and accessible through clear instruction, real-world examples, and responsible workplace practices.

I hold a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership and have spent my career helping people learn, grow, and adapt to change. My experience spans education, municipal government, Human Resources, risk management, organizational development, and workforce transformation. That combination allows me to translate complex AI concepts into practical skills that professionals can apply immediately.

Whether you're taking your first AI course or building on your existing experience, my goal is the same: to help you use AI confidently, responsibly, and effectively in today's workplace.

Welcome to the AI Readiness Academy.

I'm glad you're here!

My Approach

I believe learning artificial intelligence should be practical, approachable, and immediately useful.

Every course I create is designed for busy professionals who want to understand AI without becoming technology experts. Whether you're exploring AI for the first time or building on your existing experience, you'll find clear explanations, practical examples, and workplace applications that help you confidently apply what you learn.

As an educator and instructional leader, I believe people learn best when complex ideas are presented in clear, understandable language. That's why I focus on making AI accessible without oversimplifying it. My goal is to help you understand not only how to use AI, but also when to use it, what information to protect, and why human judgment remains essential.

I don't believe successful AI adoption begins with technology.

I believe it begins with prepared people.

My commitment is to provide practical, high-quality learning experiences that equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to use AI responsibly in today's workplace—and to continue growing as AI evolves.
